'Each person's life is like a mandala - a vast, limitless circle. We stand in the center of our own circle, and everything we see, hear and think forms the mandala of our life.' by Pema Chodron
Counselling by Telephone, is a service exclusively for women that can help you to overcome your emotional or personal difficulties in a convenient and easy-to-access way.
All you need to access telephone counselling is a quiet private space and a telephone. From there you can talk directly to me, Helen George, an experienced and fully qualified female counsellor.
I am a fully qualified experienced counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I also hold BACP accreditation status which is awarded to members who demonstrate a commitment to high standards of practice. I adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and I have also undertaken specialised training in telephone counselling.
Alongside my counselling by telephone private practice, I also work part-time as a counsellor within the NHS. I have worked for the NHS for the last 10 years both in GP surgeries and a psychological therapies service. It is through this work that I have developed considerable experience and a passion for working with women.
I hold a special interest in all the life stages and experience’s that women journey through in relation to the impact on their emotional well-being.

My core training and approach in counselling is integrative. This incorporates three main counselling approaches; person-centred, existential and psychodynamic and enables me to tailor the counselling to a person’s individual need and in a way that would be most valuable. An understanding of women in the context of the female experience is also embedded in my approach.
There is a growing recognition that the stresses women experience can affect their physical, emotional and mental well-being. Women are more likely than men to be diagnosed as suffering from depression and almost twice as likely to suffer from anxiety and post traumatic stress disorders. This I believe highlights the importance of providing a bespoke service for women.
I am passionate about supporting women to work through their difficulties. My aim is to facilitate a safe, non-judgmental space for growth and understanding, where together we can work towards meaningful change. As we will hold weekly telephone counselling sessions together, a regular and constant base is provided for you where you will feel listened to and supported in our work together. The process is not about offering you advice or telling you what to do, but empowering you to find the right way forward for yourself. Fundamentally, I hope that women will experience me as a ‘real’ person on the other end of the telephone line who is welcoming, caring and empathic.
Choosing the right counsellor you can work with is important. So if you have any questions about the way I work and how I can help you, please do get in touch. Alternatively, you can book in for an initial consultation at a discounted rate to help you decide if telephone counselling is right for you.
Initial consultation (50 minutes) £25
Ongoing weekly telephone counselling sessions (50 minutes) £40
The initial consultation is offered at a discounted rate. It will be an opportunity for you to talk about your difficulties and outline what you would like to achieve. If we agree that telephone counselling is appropriate for you and decide to go ahead and work together, we will then work out for how long. It may be just a few sessions that you feel you need or a longer period.
If you are struggling financially or on a low income and cannot afford the advertised fees, please do not let this stop you from making contact with me. I also offer a limited number of concessionary rates and would be happy to discuss them with you.
If I am unavailable at the time of your call, please leave a brief message and I will return your call as soon as possible.
Alternatively, you can email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
All enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence.
