My Approach to Counselling

My core training and approach in counselling is integrative. This incorporates three main counselling approaches; person-centred, existential and psychodynamic and enables me to tailor the counselling to a person’s individual need and in a way that would be most valuable. An understanding of women in the context of the female experience is also embedded in my approach.

There is a growing recognition that the stresses women experience can affect their physical, emotional and mental well-being. Women are more likely than men to be diagnosed as suffering from depression and almost twice as likely to suffer from anxiety and post traumatic stress disorders. This I believe highlights the importance of providing a bespoke service for women.

I am passionate about supporting women to work through their difficulties. My aim is to facilitate a safe, non-judgmental space for growth and understanding, where together we can work towards meaningful change. As we will hold weekly telephone counselling sessions together, a regular and constant base is provided for you where you will feel listened to and supported in our work together. The process is not about offering you advice or telling you what to do, but empowering you to find the right way forward for yourself. Fundamentally, I hope that women will experience me as a ‘real’ person on the other end of the telephone line who is welcoming, caring and empathic.

Choosing the right counsellor you can work with is important. So if you have any questions about the way I work and how I can help you, please do get in touch. Alternatively, you can book in for an initial consultation at a discounted rate to help you decide if telephone counselling is right for you.

It may be just a few sessions that you feel you need or a longer period.
